For some unknown reason I thought they lived in south east Australia when they are in fact a costal/subcoastal bird on the NORTHERN half of our continent. But despite living most of my life right on the southernmost edge of their distribution I've have seen one. I really enjoyed designing this regent honey eater I really enjoyed designing this regent honey eater for Fynn to incorporate with another tattoo I previously made on her arm of the fairy wren perched on the grevillea. We intentionally left the stem open on the first tattoo so we could achieve this. Love how it turned out. Wish I has filmed one video in a 1x1 format to show it off better! I made this tattoo earlier this year. Sammy the cockatiel with some Pin-Cushion Hakea (h Sammy the cockatiel with some Pin-Cushion Hakea (hakea laurina) that I tattooed for Tiffany earlier this year. When I saw Tiffany again she told me her other cockatiel Stella hissed at the tattoo of Sammy 😂 From memory I don't think Sammy paid it much attention. Hakea laurina is shrub or small tree commonly known as kodjet (Noongar name) or pin-cushion hakea and is endemic to Western Australia. It has showy red and cream globular flowers and lance shaped leaves. Pin-cushion hakea occurs in the sandplains of the coastal southwest of Australia, the northernmost range being Narrogin and extending east to Esperance. P.S. Sitting on the edge of a cliff in the Blackdown Ta Sitting on the edge of a cliff in the Blackdown Tablelands National Park. Getting into the swing of travelling has been a blast! It's now getting very hot so we've found a house sit near Beechworth (North Victoria) to chill over Christmas. It will be the perfect opportunity to do some tattooing. Can anyone recommend any good tattoo shops in the area I could guest at, say around Wangaratta or Wodonga? I won't be able to do Albury as the NSW tattoo licence is crazy expensive at $700 a year (QLD is $180). There's no point in paying for a NSW licence unless I spend a lot of time working there. And at the moment we just want to head south to get out of the heat. Don't worry I will come back later I promise!
